Friday 25 October saw the staff and students of Osborne State School seeing red, but it was all in the name of a good cause. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation held the first Day for Daniel in November 2005 and the tradition has been continued this year at Osborne.
The Day for Daniel is a National Day of Action to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention. It is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives. It aims to help empower our children to ‘Recognise, React and Report’ if they feel something is not right. This year, the Pre-prep group took part in lots of red themed activities included donning eye patches and becoming pirates to search for red treasures around the school. The school also enjoyed a red morning tea and watched the Day for Daniel awareness video to help students learn what to do if they ‘don’t feel right’.
