Water Festival Fun

It was a busy day for our school this Saturday which saw us run a sausage sizzle in conjunction with the federal election and put a float in the Burdekin Water Festival Grand Parade.

Our lunch time sausage sizzle was a success with many people from around the Osborne area dropping in to cast their vote and say hello.  It was great to see so many people visiting our school.

The afternoon saw us put together our very first Water Festival float.  After blowing up what felt like a thousand balloons, decorating the trailer and ute with streamers and giant placards shouting ‘Osborne State School’ and dressing Starlight the pony, our adopted school mascot, we made our way down to ANZAC park to line up with the other floats.  It was a fabulous parade with many floats from various organisations around the district.  However, it seems Starlight and Daly stole the show, winning Best Individually Dressed Horse in the parade.  The students, staff and parents all enjoyed throwing lollies to the crowd and handing out fliers as we made our way down Queen Street.  It was an exhausting but very enjoyable day.

A big thanks must go out to all those parents and friends of the school who helped out on the day, particularly Lisa and Bridgette Hill from Lisa’s Equine Massage for loaning us Starlight, Mr and Mrs Bob and Robyn and Keeley Laidlow for loaning us their ute, helping to set up and driving our float in the parade and Ellsley Scrap Metal for allowing us to borrow their trailer.
